Penalties for Lateness and incorrect Hardcopy Submission

Assignments are due to be submitted on line by 10pm on the specified due day. A physically printed copy must be submitted no later than 2:00pm the following class day.

Late on-line submissions will be accepted up to three days (72 hours) after the deadline. Points will be subtracted, from a total of 100, for lateness as follows:

Lateness of on-line submission Points subtracted
No more than 24 hours
10
More than 24 hours up to 48 hours
20
More than 48 hours up to 72 hours
30
More than 72 hours
100

Thus, programs submitted more than 72 hours late will receive a grade of zero.

A (physically) printed copy must be submitted as well. The physical copy is due to be placed in a box at the back of the class room no later than 2:00pm on the first class day after the on-line submission. If it is late or not turned in at all, a penalty of 5 points will be accessed.

If the physical copy is different from the version that was submitted on line a 100 point penalty will be assessed (a grade of zero will be given for that homework)!

Other penalties:

  • 2 points for not including a properly formatted CS 103 cover page (download it from the course webpage) on the front of your assignment
  • 1 point for not stapling your assignment together. Neither folding your paper nor are acceptable substitutes for stapling. (Staplers are provided at the boxes where you turn in your assignments in the back of the classroom.)
