Procedure for submitting solutions to
assignments on line.
You will use Blackboard for all your on-line submissions. After you have
prepared a solution and are ready to submit it, here is what you do:
- After logging into your
section of this course, you will see something like this (We will use
Section 1 as an example)

- Click on Submissions
in the menu at the left of the Blackboard page. You will then see
something like this (We will use HW 1 as an example):

Click on >>
View/Complete Assignment: HW1
- You will see something like
this:

- You must enter something in
the comments box. If you do not need to
include any special notes, simply enter your name. (You do not have to
worry about the format of your name.)
- Now click Browse,
and a Window will pop-up showing you directories on your computer.
- Find the file on your
computer that you wish to submit. Highlight it and click Open.
- If your solution comprises
multiple files, then, click Add Another
File and repeat the procedure by clicking again on Browse, highlighting the next
file and clicking Open. Repeat this procedure for all the files you wish to
submit.
- The names of the files that
you have already “Opened” will be displayed to the right of
and below the words "Currently Attached Files”.
You may remove any of them by clicking the Remove
button to the right of the file's name.
- When you have added all the
files for your solution, you have a choice.
- BEFORE
YOU HIT Submit NOTE: When you click Submit,
then your submission will be complete and there is no going back! You cannot submit again! (We have complained
bitterly to those who are in charge of this software with no results.)
- If you click Save, your submission will not be complete, but the
files will be saved under this assignment for later submission. You can
log out of Blackboard and log back into Blackboard at a later time. When
you Click on
>> View/Complete Assignment: HW1
again, you will see these same files waiting there for you to submit
them. Thus Saving, as opposed to Submitting gives you a chance to review
your work, change your solution, remove your previously added file(s) and
add new ones. It does not, however, cause anything to be submitted.
- The time of
submission is the time at which you click Submit,
not the time that you click Save. So, in
order to avoid losing points for a late submission, you must remember to
click Submit before the deadline.
- Finally, an assignment will
disappear from view 72 hours after the due time. Files that you have not submitted, will disappear, even if you have saved them!
